MA"ness"

The last year has been amazing. Joining the new MA
in Graphic Design at Falmouth in October 2008, I wasn't
sure what to expect. But it has definitely been a very
worthwhile experience. Alongside a range of personal
projects, we took part in a mass of workshops and
lectures from leading practitioners in associated
and parallel fields, challenging our approach to
the subject and how we produce ideas.

Among the 'Provocateurs' were:
Bruce Mau, Matt Pyke, Andrew Shoburn, David Quay,
Jim Sutherland, a military strategist and a comedian.

This year I have:
Exhibited at the Milan Design Show, learnt about
comic timing, reassessed my design process, been
shortlisted for the Penguin Design Award, joined
a knitting club, visited top studios in London,
worked on the brand development of the Eden
Project, learnt to stone carve, attempted to design
a typeface and learnt to use a laser cutter.

This experience has helped increase my confidence
in my abilities and allowed me to experience a
deeper level of ideas conception.
